It Should be a Good Christmas

The WSJ, like other media , has constantly repeated China's propaganda about the trade "war" and its impact on the US economy. In the case of most of the US media, it has been largely to disparage Trump and to make sure he is blamed if the economy does have a hiccup before the election. I am surprised to see the Editorial Board sink to such measures.

As these experienced Editors must know, world trade only accounts for 12% of the US GDP. Exports to China account for less than 1%. 99% of the economy is unaffected by Chinese tariffs despite the articles about the "poor" farmers who will still vote Republican.

The US consumer controls 68% of the country's GDP. He determines the course of the economy and doesn't read these gloomy economic forecasts. Unemployment is at 50 year lows, consumer sentiment is near highs, he continues to save a comfortable 6%, but modestly increase spending. It will be a very good Christmas to welcome in the forth coming elections!
